Brand Atlanta Campaign

On February 1, 2005, Mayor Shirley Franklin and the Atlanta Committee for Progress (ACP) chaired by Pete Correll, announced the launch of a public/private initiative, now named the Brand Atlanta Campaign, to formalize the collective effort began last year to create a new, compelling branding strategy and marketing campaign for Atlanta. The goal of the Brand Atlanta Campaign is to support key objectives of the New Century Economic Development Plan (EDP) for Atlanta launched by the Mayor in December 2004; most importantly the creation of 60,000 additional jobs by 2009. The hospitality, entertainment and tourism industry currently generates 55,000 jobs in Atlanta and is one of the five targeted industry clusters in Atlanta's EDP. To that end, it was important to align this initiative with the ACP to ensure the appropriate public private/partnership leadership was put in place to champion and support the Brand Atlanta Campaign and to ensure its success. The ACP was established under the leadership of Pete Correll to support the Mayor and Atlanta in its overall economic development efforts.
