Community input has and will continue to be an integral part of the BeltLine project. During the creation of the Redevelopment Plan and 5-year Work Plan an extensive community development program was implemented that resulted in an unprecedented level of public involvement in the project. Going forward the City of Atlanta has implemented an ongoing Community Participation Framework (CPF) that will allow for systematic and meaningful input into the BeltLine project as it moves from vision to implementation. The CPF provides the following methods for public input:
- BeltLine Tax Allocation District (TAD) Advisory Committee - The BeltLine TAD Advisory Committee is made up of stakeholders and community members representing the BeltLine neighborhoods and technical experts. This committee will provide recommendations to the Board of Directors of Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. concerning the planning and implementation of the project and allocation of funds.
- Citizen Participation Advocate - Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. staff will include a position responsible for engaging the community in the BeltLine project and ensuring that input is included on an ongoing basis.
- BeltLine Planning Units (BPUs) - The BPU system will organize the BeltLine neighborhoods into study groups based on logical geographic and political boundaries. BPUs be involved in master planning of the BeltLine and will provide input regarding various other BeltLine initiatives.
- Community representative on Board of Directors of Atlanta BeltLine, Inc.
- Quarterly community status reports
